LAS VEGAS — Believe it or not, there is more moisture here than they know what to do with.
A rare rainstorm has flooded the streets of broken dreams and even some casinos in Las Vegas. This winter is off to a strange start considering the cold, wet weather in the desert and the fact that I haven’t had to get out my snow shovel back home in Colorado.
But it’s not like I won’t be able to find anything to do indoors around here, including covering CU’s appearance in the 10th annual Las Vegas Classic at Orleans Arena.
The Buffs (7-3), winners of five consecutive games, draw New Mexico on Wednesday night and either Indiana or Northern Iowa on Thursday night. It would be nice if CU could beat the talented Lobos and set up a likely showdown with the Hoosiers (Steve McClain is one of Tom Crean’s assistants) on Thursday.
My guess, based on the Buffs’ history of finding ways to lose outside of Boulder, is that Steve Alford (the Hoosiers legend and New Mexico coach) and Indiana will headline the marquee on the final night and CU-UNI will be the under card.
Would I bet on it? Not sure, but this would certainly be the place to do that.
