Farewell Waco

WACO, Texas — Well, Waco is in the rear-view.

I probably won’t be back here considering Colorado’s move to the Pac-12. But I’d have to say the home of the Baylor Bears gets a bad wrap from my peers who complain about coming here to cover games.

The weather is usually nice (it was 70 degrees on Saturday), the downtown area is charming and full of good restaurants and interesting history, and the Baylor campus is very nice.

I’d rank Waco ahead of Ames, Columbia, Lincoln and Manhattan on my list of favorite Big 12 stops. Other than the bad weather, diehard fans and football stadiums, nothing really stands out in these Big 12 North towns.

I won’t forget the ALICO building, the Waco Suspension Bridge or the food at Ninfa’s.
