Two years ago Alec Burks and Cory Higgins both made the preseason Wooden Award watch list, which only includes 50 players.
This year Colorado junior forward Andre Roberson is one of only four Pac-12 players on the list.
Roberson averaged 11.6 points and 11.1 rebounds last season while leading the Buffs to 24 wins and the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2003.
Entering the 2012-13 season, Roberson is only 357 rebounds away from breaking the CU career record held by Stephane Pelle (1,054,1999-2003).
Roberson, Tad Boyle’s first recruit at CU, shattered the school’s single-season record last season with 401 rebounds. He also ranked third nationally in rebounds per game and was fifth nationally with 20 double-doubles.
Arizona’s Solomon Hill, Cal’s Allen Crabbe and Washington State’s Brock Motum are also on the preseason Wooden watch list, which will be trimmed to 20 before voters like me chose a winner at the end of the season.
