CU-Texas Tech, Part II
Written by ryan in Wednesday, March 10th 2010
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Welcome to the opening round of the Big 12 tournament at the Sprint Center.
Colorado and Texas Tech will meet for the second time in four days to open the proceedings in a little an hour.
The Buffs, with a 15-15 overall record, need to win to be considered for the National Invitation Tournament. The winner of today's rematch will face No. 1 Kansas on Thursday.
I like CU's chances today for these reasons:

Burks honored, Higgins snubbed

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Greetings from the Sprint Center.
Alec Burks, for one, isn't in awe of the plush downtown arena or the Big 12 tournament stage.
"It's just a gym to me," Colorado's gifted freshman said after Tuesday's practice. "I've played in Kansas City before."
Burks, who grew up in nearby Grandview, Mo., was named the Big 12 freshman of the year on Sunday, an award voted [+]
Burks is Big 12 freshman of the year
Written by ryan in Sunday, March 7th 2010
Those who have been following the Buffs all season at the Coors Events Center have known this for some time.
But now it's official: Alec Burks is the Big 12 freshman of the year.
Burks, who became CU's all-time leading freshman scorer on Saturday during the Buffs' 101-90 victory over Texas Tech, is the first player in program history to earn the award.
Cory Higgins, CU's leading scorer, was named third-team All-Big 12 for the second consecutive season. [+]
Buffs-Red Raiders: Act I

Greetings from the Coors Events Center!
Well, as expected, Oklahoma lost its regular-season finale this morning against No. 23 Texas A&M.
That means Colorado and Texas Tech, set to wrap up the regular season here in about an hour, will meet again at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday in Kansas City to open up the Big 12 Tournament.
The winner of today's game will be the No. 8 seed and the loser will be the No. 9 seed.
The Buffs [+]

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Greetings from the Devaney Center!
Well, this is the Buffs' final chance to earn a Big 12 road victory. And their best chance.
Nebraska is 2-12 in the conference and lost 72-60 at the Coors Events Center last month.
Colorado still has a chance to finish the regular season .500 with a win tonight over the Huskers and a win over Texas Tech in the home finale on Saturday.
It's Senior Night here but the locals [+]
Now or next year
Written by ryan in Saturday, February 27th 2010
Good morning from the Coors Events Center.
The lopsided road losses to Kansas State, Kansas and Missouri are in the rear-view mirror. Colorado (12-15) is concentrating on winning the final three games of the regular season to even its overall record prior to the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City.
It seems like a lot to ask of a team that has won a total of four Big 12 games over the course of this season and [+]
Show-Me something Buffs

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Greetings from Mizzou Arena.
I took a puddle jumper from DIA to St. Louis this morning. Before we took off the pilot actually had me and a couple other dudes move to the back of the plane to even out the weight distribution.
Never had to do that before. Scary if it really makes a difference.
Anyway, the depressing drive from St. Louis to Columbia went relatively smoothly, and I'm here ready to watch Colorado [+]

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Greetings from Allen Fieldhouse.
The student body has already nestled into their bleachers under the national championship banners (1922, 1923, 1952, 1988, 2008).
The fanatics are lining the entrance tunnel out of the home locker room to get up close and personal with their beloved Jayhawks.
Danny Manning is putting the team through a pre-game warm-up.
Kansas is ranked No. 1 and puts the nation's longest active home-court win streak (56) on the line.
And then, on [+]
Sooners getting stronger
Written by ryan in Wednesday, February 17th 2010
Greetings from the Coors Events Center.
Colorado faces a must-win tonight against an underachieving Oklahoma team if the Buffs want to make a run at finishing with a winning record this season.
The Sooners (13-11 overall, 4-6 Big 12) are coming off a home loss to Texas Tech and a 97-67 humiliation at rival Oklahoma State.
However, OU gets leading scorer Willie Warren (16.2 ppg) back from injury and not-so Tiny Gallon (6-9, 290 pounds) back from suspension [+]More From Choose a category
